Bonsall Chamber of Commerce - March 2008 Newsletter

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Everyone!
Our February Sundowner at the Cask 'n Cleaver was great fun! We heard about two service groups active in our area. Phil Delany explained what the Legacy Foundation does and Pamela Wolk talked about the Daughters of the British Empire. Recent crime escalations and law enforcement reactions in Fallbrook were the subject discussed by Lt. Alex Dominguez, plus business security surveillance solutions from Jay Berman of Premiere Surveillance Systems. Several new folks introduced themselves and their businesses, as did members with new emphasis on their 'old' businesses. New member Lynn Dordahl, of Area Advance Real Estate Appraisal joined our chamber even thought she lives in San Juan Capistrano. She enjoys stopping in Bonsall on her way to visit/ride her horse in Temecula.
Sundowner Chairman Lido Favela presided over the raffle and door prizes with the help of “Bonsall Dude” Bradley Doke and Miss Fallbrook Kate Derr. We had a delightful evening with great food served up by manager Jim Beck's team. He offered a large price reduction if any of us wanted to stay for dinner, which was very nice of him. We are sorry to see Cask 'n Cleaver close. They have supported the community and the Bonsall Chamber for many years.
The very next day we had a great ribbon cutting at Curves in the Post Office area. “Bonsall Dude” Bradley Doke and Bonsall Mayor Nikki Birchall were front and center with the oversized scissors to cut the ribbon. The new owner: Melissa Algoso has added some new equipment and special touches that will put more fun in the 'move to music' exercise program.
A week or so ago I was told we had problems with the “Welcome to Bonsall” sign on Camino del Rey just west of Hwy 15. I drove over there and found the sign had fallen off the posts, was broken down the center and actually had some graffiti on it. I took it to the training center and am wondering if any one would like to make a donation toward a new sign. This might be an ideal time to add our town slogan, which we still have not figured out to everyone's satisfaction! Please contact me at 760- 414-3239 or vcfarm@aol.com with any ideas.

HONORARY MAYOR OF BONSALL

Hi Everyone,
Can you believe how fast this year is going? I am really looking forward to this month's Sundowner. Last month I had the pleasure of meeting Jorge the owner of Da Giorgio Ristorante Italiano and he told me about some of the dishes that he serves in his restaurant. They all sounded divine and I have been counting down for the Sundowner ever since. Last year's Honorary Mayor Jill Marie Thorburn did a great job with the " Bonsall Bucks Value Coupon Booklets ", and now we need a way to get them out to the public. So for my project this year, I would like to put together “Welcome Baskets” for newcomers to this beautiful town. We think this will be a good way to get “Our foot in the Door”, and introduce all our wonderful businesses to people who may not be familiar with the area or simply to thank our long time residents who have supported us for years. I am looking for donations to fill our baskets. For example: pamphlets, gifts, snacks, wine, coupons, pens, magnets, etc. to go along with the "Bonsall Bucks Value Coupon Booklets" . If you are interested in being a part of these wonderful baskets, please call me for more information.
