Bonsall Chamber of Commerce - February 2008 Newsletter
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello Everyone!
January has seemed somewhat wetter than in the past few years here in Bonsall.
And it looks like February will be wet also. This means lots of indoor
activities including dining out locally! With Bonsall's range of restaurants
we have some delightful choices.
Our January Sundowner was held at one of the three Mexican style restaurants:
The
Estrella's Family Restaurant
on the south east corner of Hwy 76 and Camino Del Rey. Always a great family
atmosphere, the location was perfect to start off our 2008 Chamber monthly
Sundowners.
Other restaurants in Bonsall include Rio Rico in the River Village and
Cortez Mexican Food
near the Bonsall Post Office. For Oriental food you can't beat the
Peking Wok
located behind the Chamber offices in River Village. If you like to do your
eating out earlier in the day a good choice is the
Sunrize Café
also in River Village.
We have other great restaurants a little further out including
the San Luis Rey Downs Golf Club
that includes a sports bar;
Pala Mesa Resort; Da Georgio Ristorante Italiano's
at the
Comfort Inn
(formerly La Estancia Inn) and
Vista Valley Country Club.
If you are in a hurry we have quickie food available at the
Jack-in-the Box,
deli at
Daniel's Apple Market
and some other places in River Village.
In February we are having our Sundowner up the road a ways at the
Cask 'n Cleaver Steakhouse,
which is always great fun, good food and a good networking opportunity.
Come to the Sundowner, pick up a
“Bonsall Coupon Book”
and save gas by doing business with Bonsall Chamber members!

At an early age,
Rogelio Cortes
discovered his passion for cooking. He would spend his spare time in his
family's kitchen learning the techniques and the various ingredients that went
into cooking many of the Mexican dishes.
His working experience in different restaurants helped him develop his own
ideas. He would share his cooking skills to improve the flavor of the food as
he took the time to gain knowledge on how to run a restaurant.
In 1993, he purchased his own restaurant, known to many as
Cortez Mexican Restaurant.
You will find his two brothers,
Mavrilio
and
Jeronimo Cortes
helping out as well as his son,
Antonio Cortes.
The Mexican menu consists of Combination Plates, Breakfast Burritos, Burritos,
Combo Burritos, Enchiladas, Tacos, Tostadas, Tortas and many side orders.
A “Take Out” order is fast. You many also enjoy your meal at the restaurant.
And of course, phone orders for “food to go” are encouraged. The prices are
reasonable!

you! Every dish on the menu is personally selected for its Authentic Mexican

already off to a fast start. I would like to say Thank you to last months
Sundowner host
Estrella's Family Restaurant.
You always have wonderful food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I'll be

I also had the pleasure of attending the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce Annual

Recently some of our Chamber members asked about having a ribbon cutting
ceremony at their place of business. If you are interested in having one,
please call me and we can set up a date that is good for you. I will be
involved in a ribbon cutting at
Curves
in Bonsall for their Grand Re-opening under a new owner on February 7th.
