Bonsall Chamber of Commerce - January 2008 Newsletter
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello Everyone!
The New Year is upon us. Time to make our resolutions for the coming year and
get back on the diet!
Imelda Estrella
and I are having a weight loss contest. We started before the holidays and
had to take a break. Now it is time to pay attention and get serious!
We had a great, albeit very cold, trip down Main Street in Fallbrook during
their huge Christmas Parade.
Bradley Doke,
sporting a white cowboy hat and a fancy red sweater with big white letters
introducing him as the Bonsall Dude and I, all bundled up in red, rode sitting
on warm blankets on the back of a rented convertible.
Susie Birchall
(Birchall Flooring) arranged the whole evening and drove the route like a
professional, in her Santa hat. Our Bonsall Mayor,
Nikki Birchall
and her kids rode in a borrowed Highway Patrol convertible (!!) just behind
us. She didn't seem as cold in that 'hot' car!
On December 5th, I attended the
Bonsall Woman's Club
15th Annual Magic of Christmas Tea at the Grand Tradition. This was a lovely
event and our table put together by
Susie Birchall
was very festive.
Susie
invited the Honorary Mayor of Bonsall,
Nikki Birchall,
our new Sundowner chairwoman,
Lido Favela,
our Chamber treasurer
Andrea Aston
and me to be among her guests, which made this truly “the Bonsall Chamber
table”. Entertainment by The Norman Sullivan Middle School Show Choir was
excellent and the raffle for the gorgeous Christmas trees and gifts was great
fun.
So, following the first week of December with all these eating activities and
add all the business parties that involve food and then Christmas and New Years
dinners, it is certainly time to start back on the diet contest with
Imelda!
Actually, though, we are having our January Sundowner at her
Estrellas' Family Restaurant,
so maybe we better wait till after that event!

THANK YOU TO ALL
– Christmas donations provided food & toys to many families
The annual Bonsall Chamber Christmas Party at the Bonsall Community Center was
our very own 'home made' potluck meal put together by our loyal volunteers.
This usually means
Susie Birchall, Nikki Birchall and Lido Favela
leading the set up and tear down. We collected unwrapped gifts to give to the
Bonsall Woman's Club who, in turn, saw they get handed out to less fortunate
families in our area.
Thank you to Chairperson of the Toys and Food Program:
Mary Jane Poulter.
Purchasing toys with the donated funds:
Marilyn and Don Schweibold, Leigh Ann Howard and Gale Golden. Bonsall Woman's
Club
members in charge of wrapping were
Joan Kaford,
President,
Pat Aspray and Beverly Thompson.
Military liaison:
Gloria Mattson
and
Allison Poulter Boone
distributing the Military gifts and food certificates. Distributing to local
families:
Barbara Chahbazian, Sonja Longley, Marilyn Schweibold, Sandy Bell, Charlene
McNary, Diane Trappen, Judy Barnett, Rena Godshall and others.
We categorized the families that needed a little help during this Christmas
season:
1.
Local families
2.
Military families
3.
Fire Victim Families
The names of the families were all recommended by various sources; local
schools, military liaison or a sponsor.
This year's donations surpassed our expectations. Thank you to our local
residents, the members of the Bonsall Chamber and the Bonsall Woman's club for
their generous monetary donations, toy drives and volunteer help. And we were
delighted to add more families to our list when we received a large donation
from a business contractor in Vista.
You all made a happier holiday for many of the less fortunate children and
their families in the Bonsall, Fallbrook and Camp Pendleton areas. THANK YOU!
HONORARY MAYOR OF BONSALL
Hello everyone!
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I love the holidays
and was so excited to go to some of the many events. I was invited to enjoy the
Holiday Open House at the Ranch House on Camp Pendleton. It was beautifully
decorated for Christmas, wonderful food, great music and I was able to meet all
the commanders and their wives.
On December 1st, the Bonsall Chamber President,
Leigh Ann Howard,
Vice-President
Susie Birchall,
The Bonsall Dude,
Bradley Doke
and my family and I all braved the rain and cold to ride in the Fallbrook
Christmas Parade. I don't think my kids completely understood what was going
on, but we had so much fun that it didn't matter. I would like to thank
CHP Officer Brian Pennings
for coming up to Fallbrook and driving us through the parade.
Next was the Bonsall Chamber Christmas Party. It was a lot of fun watching a
video slide show of our chamber members and guest at last year's events.
Cory Carrier
did a terrific job on the presentation and organizations of all the photos.
It was a joyful time with good food, good talks and good friends. And lots of
Christmas toys were collected for the less fortunate children.
I also had the pleasure of attending the annual Magic of Christmas Tea Party
that is put on by
The Bonsall Woman's Club.
They had the most wonderful Christmas trees, gift baskets and food, but the
best part was when the
Sullivan Middle School Show Choir
group preformed their routine. I look forward to seeing their show every year.
Great Job Guys & Girls!
